Is solar control glass expensive?
The price of solar control glass depends on the type you choose. Our base model, BENGglas Double Coated, can be considered a light solar control glass. Despite the additional solar control coating, this model is no more expensive than our lowest-priced model.
Would you like stronger sun protection, such as with BENGglas Triple Coated or BENGglas Solar Control? In that case, you’ll pay a modest additional cost of approximately €20 to €50 per m² (excl. tax and installation). The average price range for these variants is between €295 and €345 per m² (excluding VAT and installation).
Is solar control glass worth the investment?
Although solar control vacuum glazing may be more expensive than standard glass, you’ll recoup part of that investment through lower energy costs. In rooms with plenty of sunlight, you’ll save on cooling costs in the summer, while the excellent insulation properties help keep heat inside during the winter.
So you’re not just investing in sun protection, but also in energy efficiency and comfort—all year round, and with BENGglas, for 50 years.
What is the difference between double glazing and solar control glass?
The difference between double glazing and solar control glass lies mainly in what the glass does for you.
Double glazing: keeps heat inside
Double glazing is designed to keep heat inside your home. In the winter, it slows down the loss of heat through the window. This helps save energy on heating.
But on sunny days, a room with double glazing can still get quite warm. The glass traps heat well—even when that heat comes from the sun.
Solar control glass: keeps heat out and in
Solar control glass does two things at once. Just like double glazing, it keeps heat inside during the winter. In addition, a special coating ensures that some of the sun’s heat is blocked.
