FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of vacuum glazing?

The main benefits of vacuum glazing: it insulates up to three times better than double glazing, it fits into your existing window frame, and it lasts up to 50 years. On top of that, you’ll enjoy a quieter, more comfortable, and more sustainable home. We’ve listed the benefits for you!

1. The best insulation value
BENGglas has a U-value starting at 0.35. That’s twice as good as triple-pane glass (0.70) and more than three times as good as double glazing (1.10). That means less heat loss—and you’ll notice the difference right away on your energy bill. Learn all about vacuum glazing from BENGglas.

2. Fits into your existing window frame
Vacuum glazing is available starting at 6.7 mm thick. Double glazing is about 21 mm thick, and triple-pane glass is about 38 mm thick. No new window frames, no renovations, and no hassle. You also get to keep the original look of your home. Ideal for renovations, 1930s homes, and historic buildings! Read more about the thickness of vacuum glazing.

3. Lasts up to 50 years, with no loss of performance
With double glazing and triple-pane glass, the gas slowly leaks out, and after 20 to 30 years, it’s often time for new glass. A vacuum cannot leak. As a result, BENGglas continues to perform for up to 50 years as if it were just installed. And you get a 20-year warranty with it!

4. A quieter home
BENGglas reduces noise by 36 dB, compared to 31 dB for double glazing and 33 dB for triple glazing. It’s especially effective at keeping out those annoying low-frequency sounds, like traffic. Want even more peace and quiet? In a laminated version, noise reduction goes up to 41 dB.

5. More comfort by the window
Because vacuum glazing insulates so well, the inside of the glass stays nice and warm. No more cold spots by the window and less of a draft. There’s also hardly any condensation on the inside of your windows, so less moisture and a lower risk of mold.

6. Stable at any angle
Did you know? Gas-filled insulating glass loses up to 60% of its insulating value when installed at an angle or horizontally. Vacuum glazing doesn’t! This makes it perfect for skylights, sunrooms, and roof lights.

7. Sustainable, from production to use
Vacuum glazing lasts twice as long and contains up to 30% less glass than triple-pane glass. BENGglas is also produced using 100% green energy. An average home saves about 1,800 kg of CO₂ per year. Good for your wallet and for the planet! Read more about the sustainability of vacuum glazing.

8. A Better Energy Rating and Higher Home Value
Better insulating glass results in a better energy rating, which increases your home’s value. Add to that the lower energy costs, the long lifespan, and the savings on new window frames, and you have an investment that more than pays for itself. Find out how much vacuum glazing costs.

In short: with vacuum glazing, you’re choosing top-notch insulation, peace and quiet, and comfort—all for up to 50 years.
