Hybrid Vacuum Glazing
BENGglas Hybrid combines the power of vacuum glazing with an additional inner pane. This allows you to achieve a very high insulation value while keeping your existing window frames. The glass is tailored to the available space in the frame: from narrow existing frames to wide profiles that accommodate extra glass thickness. This allows you to get the best possible insulation from your current frames, without thick and heavy triple-pane glass!

How thick is vacuum glazing?
The thickness of vacuum glazing varies depending on the brand you purchase. It can be as thin as 6.7 millimeters for untempered vacuum glazing, but the minimum glass thickness often starts at 6.7 millimeters. Depending on the window area, this can increase to a minimum glass thickness of 16.3 millimeters.
The minimum glass thickness at BENGglas:
BENGglas vacuum glazing consists of two panes 3, 4, 5, or 6 mm thick with a vacuum space of just 0.3 mm between them. This results in a minimum glass thickness of 6.7 millimeters (semi-tempered) or 8.3 millimeters for tempered vacuum glazing.
The minimum glass thickness is determined based on the desired pane area.
The larger the pane, the thicker the structure must be to prevent deformation or warping:
- up to 3 m²: 6.7– 8.3 mm
- from 3 to 4 m²: 10.3 mm
- from 4 to 4.8 m²: 12.3 mm
- 4.8 m² and above: 16.3 mm
Since BENGglas is available in sizes up to 4,120 mm (whereas other vacuum glazing brands can only produce up to 2,500 mm), the pane thickness may need to be 16.3 mm.

BENGglas can be thickened or laminated. This means that either an additional pane or an extra cavity with a pane is placed against the vacuum glass unit. This increases the total thickness. Depending on the desired final thickness, we can fully customize the composition to your specifications.

What glass thickness do I need for my vacuum glazing project?
BENGglas comes in various thicknesses, so we always have the perfect match for your windows. This prevents warping, bending, and other issues.
The larger the glass, the thicker the assembly. The glass thickness is determined based on the surface area of a single pane:
- 6.7 to 8.3 mm: up to 3 m²
- 10.3 mm: 3 to 4 m²
- 12.3 mm: 4 to 4.8 m²
- 16.3 mm: 4.8 m² and up
Is BENGglas too thin for your window frames? No problem!
BENGglas is ultra-thin, but if your window frames are slightly wider than 16.3 mm, we can also increase the thickness of the glass(BENGglas Hybrid) or laminate it. That way, it fits perfectly even in wider profiles, without you having to replace your window frames.

What are the differences between vacuum glazing (BENGglas), triple-pane glass, and double glazing?
Vacuum glazing works differently than traditional insulating glass. While HR++ and triple glazing use air or gas between the glass panes, the cavity in BENGglas is completely evacuated. This delivers performance levels that simply cannot be achieved with regular insulating glass. These are the main differences:
1. By far the best insulation value available
BENGglas offers the best insulation value in the world. You’ll retain more heat and increase comfort in your home.
- BENGglas: U=0.35
- Double glazing: U=1.10
- Triple-pane glass: U=0.70
2. Fits into existing window frames, preserving the authentic look
BENGglas is extremely thin and almost always fits into existing window frames. Double glazing and triple glazing are much thicker and often require replacing your window frames. With BENGglas, you can preserve the look of your building while enjoying impressive insulation performance:
- BENGglas: 6.7 mm
- Double glazing: 21 mm
- Triple-pane glass: 38 mm
3. More daylight and extra-clear glass (LTA)
Because BENGglas is so thin, the glass remains beautifully clear. Despite its extremely high insulation value, it lets in up to 15% more daylight than, for example, triple-pane glass. There are variants that are extra clear or, conversely, have solar control properties , depending on your preferences.

4. Consistent performance with horizontal installation
With BENGglas, the insulation value always remains stable, even when the glass is installed at a horizontal angle. With traditional insulating glass, performance drops significantly.

5. Maximum sound attenuation
BENGglas delivers strong performance across all frequencies. With a laminated version or acoustic films, the sound reduction can be increased even further.
- BENGglas: 36 dB (-2; -3). Laminated up to 39 dB; with acoustic films up to 41 dB
- Double glazing: 31 dB (-1; -4)
- Triple-pane glass: 33 dB (-2; -6)
Based on the data above, double glazing typically provides sound attenuation between 30 and 37 dB, and triple glazing between 31 and 27 dB, with lower frequencies in particular being less effectively attenuated. BENGglas remains stable at around 34–33 dB, making it highly versatile. In laminated versions or with additional acoustic films, the sound insulation of this BENGglas improves further.
6. Service Life
The performance of BENGglas remains at the same level for decades, without any decline.
- BENGglas: stable for up to 50 years
- Double glazing: 20–25 years, with a gradual decline in the U-value
- Triple-pane glass: ± 30 years, with a gradual decline in the U-value
BENGglas Extra Clear
BENGglas Extra Clear is the clearest vacuum glazing in the product line. It’s almost as clear as single-pane glass, but with an insulation value of U=0.50. Perfect for those who want to maximize savings while enjoying extra natural light and free solar heat.

BENGglas PyroVac® EW30-1 is fire-resistant vacuum glazing with a U-value of 0.40 and a total glass thickness of just 15 mm. Thanks to its EW30-1 classification, the glass provides 30 minutes of protection against fire and smoke, while significantly reducing heat radiation on the non-fire side.
