Vacuum Windows in the Nordic Region
Ten to fifteen years ago, the European window industry competed to offer the best U-values. This could once again become a competitive factor, but now alongside better sound insulation and a longer service life. Just over a year ago at the Building Green trade shows in Aarhus and Copenhagen, the vacuum glass window was presented as the window of the future by a Belgian manufacturer and a Dutch distributor of a Chinese-made product. Just 6–8 mm thick—or one-fifth thinner than triple-pane insulated glass—with a better U-value and noise-reducing properties. Now, just over a year later, Byggeeksport has asked the two companies and their Danish dealers about the status of sales in Denmark. LandVac Plans to Build a Factory in Europe
LandVac is the world’s first and leading manufacturer of vacuum windows and, in 2024, introduced its latest generation: titanium vacuum glass. In Europe, LandVac’s distributor is the Dutch company BENGlas, which describes LandVac’s vacuum windows as “the world’s best insulating glass.” In the fall of 2025, BENGlas signed a letter of intent with LandVac to build a factory in Europe by 2030 in collaboration with a third partner. Last year, BENGlas CEO Youri Creutzberg told Byggeeksport at Building Green Copenhagen that the market for vacuum glass had been virtually nonexistent. But since then, it has grown significantly, and they now have over 130 dealers worldwide. In Denmark, the window wholesaler Glascom serves customers in Norway and Sweden, though there are no dealers in those countries yet. Today, Youri Creutzberg reports that sales in the Danish market have been developing well, with weekly orders. Orders have also been fulfilled in the Swedish and Norwegian markets, though there are no dealers there yet. - BENGlas will be participating in the Glassttec trade show in Düsseldorf next month.
